Glass Lizard
During some backyard spring cleaning we found this glass lizard buried in the sandy dirt of an unused (up until now) flower bed. They are harmless legless lizards that closely resemble snakes. I was happy to have the chance to photograph it before letting it go to find a new place to hide.
Aww! So cute!
These guys are so darn pretty!! Glad to have them around 🙂
Love its red eyes with the striping.
The eyes are stunning – really surprised me when I got up close. They are such beautiful creatures 🙂
Hiya Salty, great shot. Our back yard is showing signs of warmer weather with both our resident black snake and chicken snake making an appearance over the past few days. We haven’t had much time to post. Our koi pond was in need of a water change as the ammonia levels had gone too high. We had to vacuum out about 100 gallons and replace the old aerator with a bigger one. Koi appear to be happy with the changes and are back to eating. Hope you had a great Easter.

Wow, good thing you caught it! I was never good with fish. I always wanted a water feature in the yard, but I knew my history with fish/aquariums that I’d better just stick with plants 😉 The weather change is awesome -Easter weekend we got the house painted and I did a full overhaul of the garden and potted plants this week. Just in time too with today’s rain, the house is dry and the plants are loving it! Makes it hard to find time to blog though. Today I am sunburned and sore so I’m taking the day off and catching up with WP!!
Salty
Darn Salty. You make me feel like a really old. You accomplished all that work in just a weekend? I would be so sore, I wouldn’t be able to move. Looks like a rainy type of day is in the works here as well. The plants are going to love that. I was going to ride my bike but the wind has just started gusting so I guess I’ll get back on the elliptical. The koi appear to be recovering and are back to eating. This new aerator really shows how big they are, especially when they swim near the surface. When we first got them they were only a couple of inches long. Going to try and get back to blogging when we get some of our recent work printed. It’s going to be too hot soon for this backpacking into the woods. Even with the temps in the high 60’s I was sweating my ..tt off!! 😉 Have a good one.
Joey
LOL! We had help on the house 🙂 and the gardening I did during the week. Today I can barely move!
Take care and enjoy the rainy day
I never knew legless lizards even existed. Thanks for the education – and the wonderful images!
You aren’t alone, I didn’t know what they were when I first saw them years ago. Would have sworn they were snakes! I’m so glad you liked the post 🙂
That is awesome! I love the coloration of the head
The markings on these guys are fantastic! One of the prettiest lizards I’ve ever seen.
