I’ve never seen one of these. This is a great introduction to the species.
Their color is unbelievable – it was fun to take pics of it 🙂 Thanks
Never seen a bee like that ! Absolutely gorgeous 🙂
Thank you 😀
Beautiful shots! How I wish I was back in FL now!
Just amazing shots. Never knew there were green bees. I love their eyes!
Thanks!! Those eyes are too much 🙂 I love them too!
Extraordinary. Thanks, v.
Thanks Vera 🙂
Brilliant. They never stay still enough for me. Lovely colour
It wasn’t happy with me, it was really in to getting that pollen though!
Augochloropsis metallica aka “Sweat Bee”, I have seen these around my garden and be licked sweat by them once. Unusual experience! (Kind of ticklish.) Also seen the blue matallic ones once a while.
Nature is amaing!
I would love to see a blue one!!
Being licked by a bee has to be good luck 😀
Very cool compositions. Amazing to see all that pollen gathered on its legs.
Thanks – that bug was really working those flowers!!
I’m glad you managed to photograph one of these metallic bees. I was lucky a couple of years ago to find one on a Texas thistle:
Very pretty! They are impressive insects aren’t they? It’s funny, the first ones I ever got were in a thistle, but they were head down in the flower – so I just got bee butt shots 🙂
I’m glad you eventually got a good picture with no ifs, ands, or butts.
What a handsome Halictid Bee that you captured with photography. Nice shots. I wonder if he is small enough to be the one they call the “sweat bee”
They are called sweat bees, although they aren’t the sweat bees I think of. In WV we had these tiny soft-bodied bees, much smaller than the one in the picture (it is the size of a honey bee.) They would swarm me when I was outside and sweaty then sting the daylights out of me. I don’t miss those things a bit 🙂
Howaaah! I love Its color!
🙂 The coloration on this bug is intense – I love it too!
Very cool. Love it.
Thanks, they are beautiful bugs!
