When I asked about walking trails while visiting Blue Cypress Lake the bait shop owner (a true Florida character) told me about Blue Cypress Conservation Area. She remarked, “I don’t know why they call it that! It has nothing to do with our lake.” Which I guess is true, proximity must’ve been the reasoning behind the name. The access point I used to enter the conservation area is south and west of the lake itself. The area is marsh lands and lakes made by impounding the the water. The walking paths are the dikes that surround the water.
